I have been wanting to make Lip Balm  for quite a while, and I was finally able to get a chance to do it!   I discovered that I can melt down my old lipsticks and repurpose them into Lip Balms. This is also great for those lipstick colors that you love, but are too drying for your lips. I combined two colors but you can use just one if you like. I did notice that I didn’t get it as strong or brilliant of a color as I was expecting.  Which tells me, the bolder the color, the more lipstick I will have to use.

I also tried repurposing my lip stick pods. Now this is my first time at doing this so I wasn’t sure if it would work. After adjusting the bees wax and remelting my lip balm  again, I poured the hot mixture into my old lipstick pod and let it sit for a couple of hours.

When I saw that my lip balm was firm I tried it.  I was excited when it rolled up, but then it had a hard time rolling back down. I had to use my finger to push it back into the lipstick pod. After using it for several days now, and only scrolling up only a little bit, it rolls down nicely without me having to guide it with my finger.

I love this lip balm.

The coconut oil is very moisturizing and my lips stay moisturized for several hours. The color is subtly pink. I hope you give it a try and let me know what you think!

2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

Lip Stick

 2 tablespoons Beeswax

Cheese Grater * dollar store is great for this

Heat proof measuring bowl

Essential oil if you like * I didn’t but it would be a really nice touch.

Bring some hot water to boil in a pot and place all ingredients in a heat proof bowl. Place bowl over pot and stir while the ingredients melt. Once mixture is completely combined, take off of heat and being very careful, pour into lip balm pods and old lipstick pods. Place in a secure place to cool for several hours.

Makes roughly 2 lipstick pods and one lip balm pod.
